Add a Disclaimer or Waiver to collect digital Signatures

VolunteerLocal allows you to include a disclaimer or waiver on your registration form to collect digital signatures. This feature is available on both the Applications and Event/Program (scheduling) pages.

Add a Disclaimer / Waiver

  1. From the menu bar, navigate to Events & Programs > Events & Programs or Applications
  2. Scroll to either an Application or Event/Program, and click Disclaimer
  3. On the disclaimer/waiver settings page, click Content & signature capture to expand the options
  4. Choose your label from the dropdown
  5. Copy and paste your Disclaimer/Waiver content into the text box below the selected label
  6. To capture a digital signature for each volunteer, toggle the Capture a digital signature setting ON
  7. Customize the checkbox acknowledgment language displayed to volunteers
  8. Click the Save button

Adding a Minor Waiver/Disclaimer Option

If you accept minor volunteers, you can enable the Minor Waiver/Disclaimer option

When the Minor Disclaimer setting is active:

  • The registration form will display an option to indicate a minor registration.

  • The Parent/Guardian Email entered will receive a signature request email.

  • The link in that email opens a version of the minor volunteer’s profile, allowing the parent or guardian to review and accept the Disclaimer/Waiver digitally.

Follow the steps 1-7 above:

  1. Enable the toggle Activate a separate disclaimer/waiver for minor volunteers

  2. Copy and paste your Minor Disclaimer/Waiver content into the text box below the toggle
    ‼️Please note: This is the content presented to the parent/guardian
  3. To capture a digital signature for each volunteer, from the parent/guardian toggle the Capture a digital signature from a parent or guardian, via email ON
  4. Customize the email message sent to parents/guardians
  5. Click the Save button


‼️Please note: If your minor waiver is enabled ensure the setting “Show volunteer information (registration form) on the volunteer profile page” is toggled ON. 

  • Navigate to Events & Programs > Events & Programs or Applications
  • Select Edit Detail, scroll to  Volunteer Profile Options
  • Ensure the following toggle is enabled

Minor Volunteer Process

If you enable the minor volunteer waiver/disclaimer, the volunteer will indicate that they are a minor while completing the Application or signing up for a shift (depending on where the Waiver/Disclaimer is located).

  1. The volunteer will indicate they are a minor while completing their sign-up and enter their parent/guardian's name and email address.

     

  2. A signature request email is automatically sent to the Parent/Guardian email address provided

  3. The button within that email links directly to the minor volunteer’s profile, where the parent or guardian can review and digitally sign the Waiver/Disclaimer
