Creating a New Event or Program (Scheduling Page)

Organizing volunteer opportunities in VolunteerLocal begins with creating an event or program, the central hub where volunteers can view and sign up for available opportunities.

Event and Program are used interchangeably in VolunteerLocal. An event usually refers to a one-time or multi-day activity (like a race, festival, or gala), while a Program describes ongoing, year-round volunteer opportunities.

Since both are created using the same form, you’ll often see the terms used together as Event/Program.

Create a New Event/Program

1. From the menu, navigate to Events & Programs > Events & Programs

2. Click the New Event/Program button in the top right corner
   

3. On the Create a new event or program page, complete the top section, including:

   • Event Name

   • Timezone
     

4. Scroll to the Volunteer Application section
   Select whether this Event/Program will use an Application

5. Scroll to the bottom and click Save & Continue

Additional Event/Program items

Once your event/program is saved, you can:

• Create Jobs

• Create Shifts

• Create a Confirmation Message

• Set a Disclaimer/Waiver (if applicable)

• Update the Event/Program's Edit Detail Settings
