Managing Job locations (or sub-roles) helps keep your volunteer events organized and ensures volunteers have all the information they need. The instructions below will guide you through adding locations, map links, and/or sub-roles to shifts, as well as how these details appear on Volunteer Profiles and Confirmation Message emails.
Create Locations
You can create Locations (or attributes) with the steps below:
From the menu, navigate to Events & Programs > Events & Programs
Scroll to your Event/Program, click Jobs
Click the Job to expand its additional settings
Scroll to the Job Location section
Each new location (or attribute) can include the following:
Name
[Optional] Info (for example: Main gate, South Doors)
[Optional] Map URL
Click Add to save.
Note: You'll need to assign the Location to the Shift (steps below)
Assign Locations
Once locations (or attributes) have been created, you can assign them to specific Shifts with the steps below:
From the menu, navigate to Events & Programs > Events & Programs
Scroll to your Event/Program, click Shifts
Click the Shift to expand the Shift's additional settings
Scroll to the Shift Location section
- Select the correct Location from the dropdown
- Click Save Changes
View Locations
If a Location attribute has been added to the Shifts, it can be used as a sort filter on your Event/Program Sign-Up Page. To enable this filter, follow the steps below:
From the menu, navigate to Events & Programs > Events & Programs
Scroll to the Event or Program and click Edit Detail
Within Edit Detail, scroll to Layout & Display
Enable Volunteer can change the view to: Location
Event page (Volunteer Perspective)
Confirmation Email & Volunteer Profile
If a Location is added to a Shift, it will appear in the Confirmation Message Email and in the volunteer’s profile, along with the shift details.
If a Map URL is added, a map link button will appear in both the Confirmation Message Email and the volunteer’s profile.
The Location added to the Shift will also be included in any email communications that utilize the
{job info}smart tag
